Position: Job Architecture Specialist

The Job Architecture Specialist is responsible for the design, maintenance and governance of Old Mutual’s Job Architecture framework, ensuring that job families, job levels, career paths and role profiles remain accurate, consistent and aligned to organisational design principles.

The role partners with Organisation Design, HR Business Partners, Reward and business stakeholders to deliver job architecture solutions that support organisational effectiveness, workforce planning, talent management and career development. The incumbent provides specialist advice on job profiling, job evaluation and role architecture, while ensuring the integrity and consistency of the enterprise‑wide job catalogue.

Job Architecture

  • Maintain and enhance the enterprise Job Architecture framework.
  • Develop and maintain job families, career streams and job levels.
  • Ensure consistency and governance across the enterprise job catalogue.
  • Support the implementation of approved Job Architecture standards.
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing job structures.

Job Profiling

  • Develop, review and maintain accurate job profiles.
  • Maintain standardised role profile templates.
  • Support periodic reviews to ensure profiles remain current.

Job Analysis & Job Evaluation

  • Conduct job analysis and prepare roles for evaluation.
  • Apply approved evaluation methodologies consistently.
  • Prepare evaluation documentation and recommendations.
  • Maintain grading governance and evaluation records.

Career Architecture

  • Support the development and maintenance of career streams and career pathways.
  • Assist with defining career progression across job families.
  • Ensure career pathways remain aligned to organisational requirements.
  • Support initiatives that improve career mobility and transparency.

Capability Framework

  • Support the development and maintenance of capability frameworks.
  • Partner with Organisation Design consultants to align capability frameworks with job architecture.
  • Assist in identifying capability requirements for new or evolving functions.
  • Maintain capability documentation.

Organisation Design Support

  • Support Organisation Design initiatives through job architecture expertise.
  • Assess the impact of structural changes on jobs and grading.
  • Provide recommendations relating to reporting lines, role design and job consistency.
  • Participate in organisation design workshops where required.

Governance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with Job Architecture governance principles.
  • Review submissions for completeness and quality.
  • Maintain accurate job architecture documentation.
  • Monitor adherence to approved standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve consistency and efficiency.

HR Systems & Data

  • Maintain job architecture information on Workday.
  • Support HR system enhancements relating to job architecture.
  • Validate job data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Produce reports and insights to support decision‑making.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve Job Architecture processes.
  • Research emerging market practices and benchmarking information.
  • Recommend improvements to templates, standards and methodologies.
  • Contribute to projects that enhance the Job Architecture capability.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • At least four (4) years related enterprise‑wide or function work experience in Organisational Design or Job Architecture.
  • Experience developing or maintaining job families, career frameworks and organisational structures.
  • Workday HRIS platform knowledge and experience are advantageous.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Effective enablement of HR technologies.

Education

NQF Level 7 – Degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent (Required).

The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit in question.
