About Us

Welcome to Avondale Equities, a family-run hospitality and real estate group shaping the

of premier properties, we not only develop iconic destinations but also create and operate

hospitality experiences that define the city’s dining and nightlife scene. From world-class

restaurants to thoughtfully designed commercial spaces, our work blends luxury, innovation,

and community to craft environments where people connect, gather, and thrive.

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Architect of Record to oversee architectural compliance, code

review, and permitting across our portfolio. This role is critical to the integrity and efficiency of

our development process. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in the Los Angeles

market, with a strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning, and agency processes

specific to Los Angeles and West Hollywood, where the majority of our projects are located.

The Architect of Record will collaborate with our internal development team, external design

consultants, and general contractors—creating drawings, managing permit submittals, and

ensuring technical alignment from entitlement through construction.

Responsibilities

● Serve as the Architect of Record on all Avondale Equities projects, ensuring design

integrity and regulatory compliance from concept through completion.

● Review and stamp construction documents for permit submittal, ensuring alignment with

city requirements and project objectives.

● Ensure full compliance with all applicable city zoning ordinances, building codes,

accessibility standards, energy codes, and relevant state and federal regulations.

● Coordinate with city agencies throughout the plan check and permitting process,

resolving technical or code-related issues as they arise.

● Act as a liaison to city divisions including Building & Safety, Public Works, Engineering,

the Fire Department, Health Department, and Industrial Waste.

● Collaborate with external consultants, including design architects and structural,

mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and civil engineers, to develop complete,

code-compliant, and constructible drawing sets.

● Provide early design-phase input on feasibility, massing, and code analysis to support

entitlement efforts and design direction.

● Coordinate with expeditors and land use consultants regarding conditional use permits

(CUPs), zoning adjustments, and intensification of use.

● Prepare for and participate in city hearings, planning commission meetings, and city

council presentations as necessary for project approvals.

● Support consultant procurement by assisting with RFPs, vetting, and contract

administration.

● Lead value engineering efforts to optimize design and construction efficiency without

compromising quality or compliance.

● Attend job site visits during construction to ensure conformance with stamped plans,

code requirements, and design intent.

● Oversee the creation of detailed as-built drawings and 3D models for both existing

conditions and future planning efforts.

● Maintain thorough project documentation and provide timely responses to city agencies

and project consultants throughout the course of the project.

Qualifications

● Licensed Architect (RA) in California, in good standing.

● 3-5+ years of experience in architecture, including at least 2 years in an Architect of

Record or senior technical role.

● Extensive knowledge of Los Angeles and West Hollywood codes, zoning ordinances,

and agency processes is required.

● Proven ability to lead plan check, permitting, and construction document coordination.

● Experience in commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, or retail development.

● Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solution-driven.

● Strong communication and collaboration skills.

● Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and general permitting software/tools.
