Purpose of Job
- To provide application and operational expertise for pumps and compressors during reverse engineering and design activities.
- Ensure technical understanding of equipment performance, common failure modes, and manufacturability when reproducing or redesigning rotating equipment components.
- Support the design team by linking real equipment behaviour with CAD modelling, drawing preparation, and supplier manufacturing processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Review reverse-engineered designs of pump and compressor components for functional accuracy and performance suitability.
- Provide technical input based on operation and maintenance experience of rotating equipment.
- Support design team in understanding fits, clearances, tolerances, and critical functional areas.
- Review and validate engineering drawings as per ASME Y14.5 and company standards.
- Ensure manufacturability of components through machining, casting, and fabrication processes.
- Coordinate technically with suppliers during RFQ, manufacturing, and inspection stages.
- Assist in identifying root causes of common failures in obsolete or problematic parts.
- Support conversion of scanned files into functional, manufacturing-ready designs.
- Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers using SolidWorks and Geomagic Design X.
- Provide guidance on material selection, heat treatment, coatings, and surface requirements.
Scope of Authority
- Work closely with Design, Procurement, Quality, and Supplier teams.
- Provide technical approval and guidance on valve-related components before manufacturing release.
Accountabilities

- Strict adherence to the Company’s Data Security Standards
- Operate strictly within the Company ISO Framework
- Ensure correct technical interpretation of valve components before manufacturing
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in operation, maintenance, or engineering of pumps and compressors.
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment components such as shafts, impellers, casings, seals, bearings, and couplings.
- Strong experience in interpreting and reviewing engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience in reverse engineering and working with scanned files (STL / mesh data).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and drawing review.
- Familiarity with Geomagic Design X for reverse engineering applications.
- Good understanding of machining, casting, fabrication, and heat treatment processes.
- Knowledge of materials and mechanical properties used in rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with API standards, including:
- API 610 – Centrifugal Pumps
- API 674 – Reciprocating Positive Displacement Pumps
- API 675 – Controlled Volume (Metering) Pumps
- API 617 – Axial and Centrifugal Compressors
- API 618 – Reciprocating Compressors
- API 672 – Packaged, Integrally Geared Centrifugal Air Compressors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify failure modes and improve designs.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced engineering and supplier-driven environments.
- Strong communication skills for technical coordination with suppliers and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple engineering tasks simultaneously.
