Job Summary

VAG Spec is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial administration of our Cape Town and Somerset West branches. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, managing debtors and creditors, and assisting with monthly financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities Financial Administration

  • Capture and process all financial transactions accurately and timeously
  • Maintain general ledgers and accounting records
  • Process supplier invoices and payments
  • Issue customer invoices and statements
  • Reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts, and customer accounts
  • Manage petty cash and expense claims

Debtors & Creditors

  • Follow up on outstanding customer accounts
  • Ensure timely collection of outstanding debtors
  • Reconcile creditor accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare supplier payment schedules

Reporting & Compliance

  • Assist with monthly management reports
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Maintain accurate financial records for auditing purposes
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures

Payroll Support

  • Assist with payroll preparation and administration
  • Maintain employee payroll records
  • Ensure payroll information is submitted accurately and on time

Branch Support

  • Liaise with branch managers regarding financial matters
  • Monitor branch expenses and financial performance
  • Assist with financial queries from management and staff

RequirementsEssential

  • Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience

Advantageous

  • Experience within the automotive industry
  • Experience with Sage, Pastel, Xero, or similar accounting systems
  • Experience managing finances for multiple branches
  • Payroll and VAT experience

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday & Every 2nd Saturday

Salary

Market-related and dependent on experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience using accounting software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Pay: R25 000,00 – R30 000,00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Bellville, Western Cape 7530: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Bookkeeping: 3 years (Required)

Language:

  • Afrikaans & English (Required)
