The Role
We are looking for an experienced Africa Commercial & Finance Manager to take ownership of the commercial, financial, legal, and operational management of our African entities and projects, excluding South Africa.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to someone who can navigate complex commercial transactions, establish and manage entities across multiple African jurisdictions, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial oversight to support the growth of the business. Travel may be required from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full-function bookkeeping for all African entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Manage end-to-end financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting across the African portfolio.
- Drive commercial structuring, contract review, negotiations, and commercial support for projects across Africa.
- Lead the legal and compliance management of African entities, ensuring adherence to local regulatory requirements.
- Establish new African entities and offices, including company registrations, KYC processes, statutory compliance, banking, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Manage intercompany transactions, cost allocations, and project-level financial controls.
- Ensure statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance across multiple African jurisdictions.
- Partner with project and operational teams to provide commercial guidance and financial oversight.
- Prepare and present financial and commercial performance reports to senior leadership.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and financial risks across the African portfolio.
- Liaise with in-country teams, legal advisors, banks, auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders to support business development and ongoing operations.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a commercial and/or finance management role.
- Proven experience managing commercial, financial, legal, and compliance matters across multiple African countries.
- Experience establishing new entities and offices within African jurisdictions.
- Strong working knowledge of multi-currency environments, cross-border transactions, KYC requirements, and African regulatory frameworks.
- Commercially minded with the ability to translate financial information into sound business decisions.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in financial systems and reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
- French language proficiency would be a distinct advantage.
