The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates students across academic disciplines, including Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, School of Government (including Public Administration) and the Academic Literacies Programme.

An opportunity currently exists for candidates to apply for an Administrative Assistant position to provide administrative support to the Faculty Administration in respect of all Faculty administrative processes, in order to ensure alignment and compliance with central administrative systems and procedures; and to provide professional support service to academics, students and staff.

Reporting to the Senior Faculty Officer, the appointees’ duties will include, but not be limited to, the administration and execution of the following tasks:

  • Academic Administration
  • Helpdesk and enquiry management consultation
  • Student application and registration
  • Marketing and recruitment
  • Human resources administration
  • Meeting administration
  • General administration
  • Test series administration
  • Performing any other administrative duties as may be assigned by the Senior Faculty Officer or Faculty Manager

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in student administration

The following would be advantageous:

  • Administrative experience in a Higher Education environment
  • Knowledge of university administrative systems, such as SASI
  • Proficiency in computer programmes/software packages e.g. Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
