Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful recreational programs within our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care, with a focus on enhancing residents’ quality of life through tailored activities. As Activities Director, you will coordinate diverse programs that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being, ensuring an enriching environment for residents with varying needs including Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activity program that caters to the interests and abilities of residents, including those in memory care and assisted living settings.
- Plan and coordinate engaging events, outings, and therapeutic activities that foster socialization and mental stimulation.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to customize activities for residents with specific health conditions such as dementia or disabilities.
- Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent engagement while accommodating individual preferences and care routines.
- Lead recreational therapy sessions designed to support cognitive function, emotional well-being, and physical activity.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during programming to promote independence and comfort.
- Monitor resident participation and provide feedback to care teams regarding progress or changes in residents’ needs.
- Foster a positive environment that encourages resident participation, social interaction, and overall happiness.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in activity planning within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care facilities.
- Strong background in recreational therapy, senior care, or working with individuals with disabilities or dementia.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care programming, and aging issues counseling.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to organize schedules efficiently while managing multiple programs simultaneously.
- Experience in caregiving or home & community care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with social work principles related to elder care and aging-related challenges is advantageous.

Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
