Summary
The Accounts Payable (AP) Section Head is responsible for leading the AP function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense transactions. The role oversees a team of AP staff, maintains strong vendor relationships, ensures compliance with financial policies, and supports the company’s financial control and cash management objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the end‑to‑end Accounts Payable (AP) cycle.
- Review, verify, and approve invoices, payment batches, and employee expense claims.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices in alignment with contracts and purchase orders.
- Oversee monthly closing activities related to AP, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, taxation rules (including VAT), and accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
- Implement and enhance internal controls to minimize risks such as fraud, duplicate payments, and process inconsistencies.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and reports.
- Supervise and guide AP accountants and clerks, ensuring clear responsibilities and smooth workflow.
- Allocate workload, monitor daily performance, and ensure targets and deadlines are met.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 6 – 10 years of experience as same Title, preferably in a corporate, Trading, or Manufacturing sector.
- Professional certifications such as CPA or CMA are a plus.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Familiarity with multi-currency collections such as USD, EUR, and local currency.
- Understanding of banking instruments (e.g., Letters of Guarantee – LGs).
- Previous supervisory or team‑leadership experience is required.
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
