Responsibilities
- Answer incoming emergency calls promptly, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and conflict management skills.
- Assess caller needs through effective phone triage, gathering critical information related to medical, fire, or law enforcement emergencies.
- Dispatch appropriate emergency units using dispatching protocols, ensuring accurate data entry into dispatch systems.
- Utilize GIS and GPS tools to pinpoint incident locations accurately, coordinating with law enforcement and first responders for swift action.
- Provide pre-arrival instructions such as first aid or CPR guidance, supporting callers until help arrives.
- Maintain detailed records of all communications, including transcription of call details and incident reports.
- Manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining composure during high-stress situations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass background investigation, including criminal history check
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to hear and distinguish multiple audio sources (radio, phone, alarms)
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively under stress
- Visual acuity to read multiple monitors simultaneously
- Cognitive ability to prioritize, analyze, and respond rapidly to evolving incidents
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work extended hours, overtime, and respond during emergencies
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while maintaining alertness
- Ability to function effectively in a high-noise, multi-tasking environment
- Prior experience or background in public safety is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, first aid procedures, and basic life support techniques.
- Experience with GIS mapping software, GPS devices, and law enforcement communication protocols.
- Excellent analysis skills, with the ability to evaluate situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in typing, data entry, transcription, and maintaining accurate logs of all incidents.
- Demonstrated conflict management and negotiation abilities to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
- Outstanding communication skills with a focus on clarity, professionalism, and empathy during calls. Pay: $25.36 – $29.84 per hour
