3rd Level Senior Voice Engineer (VoIP / Linux / Networking)
Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Voice Engineer with strong experience in VoIP platforms, Linux system administration, and IP networking. The role involves designing, deploying, and supporting carrier grade voice infrastructure. Exposure to data networking and automation/development is highly advantageous. This is a hybrid position, combining remote work with in-office presence as required for collaboration, deployments, and critical support.
Key Responsibilities •
Design, deploy, and maintain VoIP platforms and SBC infrastructure
• Troubleshoot complex SIP signaling and RTP/media issues across multiple vendors
• Manage and optimize systems built on OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, and Acme Packet SBCs
• Implement and maintain routing logic, dial plans, and interconnects with carriers
• Perform packet captures and deep protocol analysis (SIP, RTP, DNS, TLS)
• Maintain high availability and redundancy across voice platforms
• Work with networking teams on QoS, NAT traversal, and firewall configurations
• Automate operational tasks and improve system efficiency
• Provide escalation support for critical incidents and outages Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience with SIP and VoIP protocols • Hands-on experience with one or more:
• OpenSIPS
• Kamailio
• FreeSWITCH
• Acme Packet / Oracle SBC
• Solid Linux system administration skills (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
• Strong networking knowledge:
• TCP/IP, UDP
• NAT, firewalls
• VLANs, routing, QoS
• Experience with network devices such as Cisco and/or MikroTik
• Ability to troubleshoot using tools like tcpdump, Wireshark, sngrep
• Good understanding of DNS and failover mechanisms
• Experience working in production environments with uptime requirements
Skills Required: • Scripting or development experience (Python, Bash, Lua, etc.) • Experience with APIs and automation • Familiarity with cloud platforms or virtualized environments • Database knowledge (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis) • Experience with monitoring systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, etc.) • Understanding of security best practices in VoIP environments
Soft Skills : • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail • Ability to work independently and in a team • Good communication skills (technical and non-technical) • Ability to handle high-pressure incidents and outages
